Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Spleen Removal
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

My 3yr was thin but obese - he had muscle wasting and a lot of fat in his belly from cage confinement (bad owner).
The vet wanted to try exercise and watch for any other issues before considering removal. I had just gotten him.
In that time he has increased his muscle mass and the spleen has gone down some. The other issue is insulinoma. He has seizures that are currently controlled by prednisone.
We did an xray and all that was seen around the spleen was fat.
It has been 5 months since he has been with me and getting 8 hours of out of cage time.
Now I am considering the removal of the spleen because it doesn't seem to want to go down further. It just hangs down pulling his belly down. He doesn't have much fat around his belly but surrounding that spleen.
Our first concern is - do no decrease quality of life.
