I have never had a bad reaction to a melatonin implant, a deslorelin implant, or lupron depot shot. HOWEVER, the one time that I did have a ferret react badly shortly after a lupron shot was not due to the medicine itself, but due to the fact that she got all nerved up during the shot procedure (i.e. being held tight and given the shot, which has to hurt). She got the shakes, threw up a couple of times, had diarrhea, then finally calmed down. It was the ONLY time that one of my ferrets got a shot or implant while I was not present in the room and giving them some ferretone for distraction. Never again will I not be there during a shot or implant, and never since has any of my ferrets had a bad reaction. Is there a chance that your ferret reacted to the situation, and not necessarily the medicine?
