Subject: [ferrethealth] Vaseline

I know a lot of people use Vaseline as a lubricant to remove hairballs and other blockages, I have never heard of any problems with this myself but have been told today that microcrystalline wax in it can crystallise in ferrets intestines and cause stones.
I am pretty convinced myself that this is not really a problem and
Suki has already done a Google Scholar search and a Pubmed search and not found anything that suggests this is a potential problem. Thank you Suki for your time.
However this has got a few people concerned so I would like to know if anyone else has heard of, or can provide documentary evidence of this problem actually occurring.
