Subject: [ferrethealth] Need some help ASAP!!!!!! Vets imput too please
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I am writing this concerning a friends ferret. He is a male a little
over 5 years of age.
It started with him limping with his front foot. He would not put
pressure on his paw. They took him to the vet did x-rays no visible
sign of any damage of any kind. The thought was it could be soft
tissues or muscular. He was put on Prednisolone. He started doing
better then went back to square one again. They made an appointment
back to the vet. In the mean time he started walking wobbly and showed
weakness in his hind legs. My first thoughts were insulinoma.
At one point he was walking and just feel over and went to sleep. They
took him back to the vet, the vet suspected the same thing. They did a
glucose check and it was 60, so insulinoma was diagnosed and they
increased his prednisolone to twice a day. I can not remember the
dosage amount.
This was on Monday when they went to the vet. A CBC was not done, he
requested it but the vet did no think it was necessary since they feel
its insulinoma.
Today they gave him his pred. in the morning and his soup, then back
this afternoon to give him his meds again,in this time frame a hug
knot pooped up on the right side of his face. Starting from the jaw
line to his ear the size of a quarter, and its hard as a rock. Also
they have notice the back feet to be puffy.

My gut and my experience tells me this is lymphoma, I know you have to
have a biopsy to confirm this.
Any input please, and any suggestions on what to do.
