I am wondering if he is still whole (not neutured)? And what you're
seeing is a male ferret who is going into season? Are you familiar
with what this would look like? He would have two large nubs
sticking out of that area - and if in season, they'd start yellowing
and swelling and yes, he would smell quite strongly.

Normal, healthy, neutured males don't tend to have a strong smell, as
you've indicated he has, and this is why I'm wondering this.
